Though born in neighboring Maryland, it was my formative years growing up in the Texas panhandle, the piedmont of north Georgia, and the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania that helped create an easy itch for travel. After a two-year tour with the Peace Corps in West Africa, I enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans where I earned an MBA. New Orleans is where I met Dumisile, my wife of 23 years, and where our son Bryan was born. Now aged 22, Bryan graduated from College of William & Mary in May 2009. He studied French and International Relations.

For 20 years, I lived and worked in fascinating venues in Asia and in all corners of Africa, serving in the diplomatic corps of the U.S. Foreign Service. Though a wonderfully rewarding career, our 1991 purchase of a lovely parcel of rural property here in Virginia's Piedmont eventually beckoned us home. We built a "country classic," pointed directly toward the same scenic hills that many of America's Founding Fathers called home. We are proud to make Virginia our permanent home now and we consider ourselves most fortunate to have found this special spot in the Charlottesville area.

I revel in helping others discover the beauty, year-round recreational activities, and high quality of life in these lovely hills and valleys.  I bring sharp business, marketing, organizational, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills to Charlottesville Country Properties. My objective is to help clients find their perfect spot - whether a second home, a farm, a retirement spot, or the raw rural acreage on which to build their own country classic.  I also specialize in helping clients find a reputable builder of high quality custom homes who builds precisely what they want.
